WHY DO WE GET OLD AND DIE?
THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE.
It does not matter whether you believe in the scientific or religious concept of creation. After going through the most difficult and timeless labyrinths of creation for billions of years, why would the Creator let his miracle creation grow old and die, instead of making it immortal?
Mather Nature, or the Creator, with their infinite intelligence, knowledge, creativity, and wisdom, must know something that we do not quite understand.
To better understand this conundrum, maybe we should review the available scientific knowledge and think about the creation of the first living life forms on Earth one more time.
One of the most important questions to ask here is, how is it possible to create organic matter necessary for life from nonorganic, lifeless matter?
Nobody knows the answer to this question beyond some scientific theories and speculations. Scientists who study ancient fossils state that life on Earth first started as a primitive, microscopic single-celled organism, approximately 3,5 billion years ago, called “archaea.” They are incomplete cells, known as prokaryotes. They contain no discernible cell nucleus or cell membranes. They still exist today and cause no disease. On the other hand, fully developed cells have a definite cell nucleus, which contains genetic materials, and a definite cell membrane. These cells are called “karyotes.” They are usually the cause of infectious diseases.
It is speculated that archaea are the origin of all living single- and multiple-celled creatures on Earth.
With the discovery of the gene, even though we do not know where genes come from, we now know that Darwinian evolution of species occurs through genetic dynamism and genetic changes. Genetic changes known as mutations can occur randomly or through host-environment interactions, induced adaptive evolution, infection-induced mutations, and gene transfer. Changes or variations in genes contribute to the features, forms, and behaviors of the species.
As a matter of fact, studies of human gene sequencing and genomics have shown that much of the human genome is not human at all. Some of them have arrived from ancient viruses.
Darwinian evolutionary changes, especially the creation of a new species, occur through trial and error and the selection of the fittest, and they take millions or billions of years.
As mentioned above, it is speculated that life on Earth started 3,5 billion years ago as a single-celled organism. The creation of the most complex and sophisticated human body and brain also starts as a single cell, a fertilized egg cell, called an embryo (zygote).
An embryo is genetically preprogrammed to divide over and over and to differentiate until it reaches an incredible 40 trillion cells, creating the human body and mind.
After going through all these incredible difficulties and over billions of years, why did Mother Nature not make all life forms immortal?
Because Mother Nature, with its infinite knowledge and wisdom, knows that immortality itself would be a death sentence. It would overpopulate the world, leaving no food resources or living space for any life forms. So, making all life forms get old and die serves a necessary biological purpose. It also guarantees that older generations are replaced by younger generations that are more evolved, more resourceful, and more capable. This is the essence of Darwinian evolution of the species.
